Weird America - The First Church of the Last Laugh

March 29th, 2007

VIDEO: Every April Fool’s Day the fine city of San Francisco reluctantly hosts The Saint Stupids Day Parade. The parade is an extravagant, balls-to-the-wall, anti-establishment send up hosted by Bishop Joey, the chief religious officer in The First Church of the Last Laugh.

Weird America - The Funny Farm

March 24th, 2007

VIDEO: Deep in the heart of Oregon lies a magical land of… stuff. All this stuff has been transformed into yard art on a massive scale, and is on display for all to experience. The Funny Farm (or as the owners refer to it, Farm Funny The) is a labor-of-love by two artist/antique dealers named Mike and Gene. The BOWLING BALL GARDENS, BOWLING BALL TREE, YELLOW BRICK ROAD, ELECTRIC KALEIDOSCOPE and LOVE POND are but a few attractions to enjoy.

Weird America - Beatrice Wyatt’s Yard

March 18th, 2007

VIDEO: Beatrice Wyatt was the original inspiration for Weird America and this is the first video I produced in the series. The year was 1989 and blatant weirdness was not as popular as it is now — yet this courageous woman bucked the system and did her own thing regardless of what the neighbors thought. Beatrice is long gone… but her memory lives here and now on the Internet.

Weird America - King Kukulele

March 9th, 2007

VIDEO: The ukulele is commonly associated with music from Hawaii, where the name roughly translates as “jumping flea”. Denny Moynahan, whose stage name is King Kukulele, is a comedian, actor and ukuleleist. Weird America visits his apartment which may include more than one kind of “jumping flea”.
